My research interests lie on the interactions of vegetation and the hydrologic cycle and the innumerable ways in which these interactions modify landscape properties and processes. Currently, and as part of my Ph.D. dissertation work our group (Surface Hydrology Research Group) has implemented an ecohydrologic observatory in a small catchment within the Sevilleta LTER in central New Mexico (see a picture of the site here). In this site we test diverse hypotheses on the effects of topography, soils and vegetation on the hydrologic and ecologic processes of semi-arid landscapes by means of data analysis, field reconnaissance studies, and modeling efforts.
