Groundwater Hydrologist, HydroMetrics WRI

HydroMetrics Water Resources Inc. has a full time position open for a hydrogeologist/engineering hydrologist and groundwater modeler in Oakland, CA. We are looking for a candidate with a strong grounding in hydrogeology, excellent analytical skills, and good interpersonal abilities who is interested in groundwater resources management.

The employee will analyze groundwater data; conduct numerical modeling of various hydrologic systems including regional groundwater basins; draft reports on hydrologic conditions and hydrologic impacts; conduct field work including geological characterization and oversight of well installation; and assist with designing water wells among other technical and scientific tasks.  The employee must be able to work independently on these tasks under the direction of senior hydrologists.

Seismometer Specialist, IRIS PASSCAL Instrument Center

The IRIS PASSCAL Instrument Center at New Mexico Tech is seeking applicants to fill the position of Seismometer Specialist. The position will be filled either at an introductory level or a senior level depending on applicant’s qualifications. Responsibilities include repair and testing of broadband and intermediate seismometers, and maintenance of high-frequency geophones. User support and fieldwork are an essential part of the position.

We are seeking self-motivated individuals able to work in a multitasking environment, and comfortable interacting with the seismological community both to provide support and to help users determine the appropriate equipment to meet their scientific goals. Successful candidates are: willing to travel for up to one month to support seismic experiments in remote, international field locations; able to work well in stressful situations; and are able to work both independently and as part of a team.

Hydrogeologist, Orange County Water District

OCWD is seeking a hydrogeologist to join its team of groundwater professionals. Under direction, prepares a variety of reports (well construction summaries, tables, maps, graphs, as-built and cross-sectional drawings), analyzes complex data (identify data anomalies, interpret data, create representative graphs, contour data, evaluate aquifer test data), performs field inspections (conduct geologic borehole logging and injection/monitoring well design, oversee construction projects, conduct well performance and aquifer testing, collect water samples, oversee well maintenance, troubleshooting), prepares a variety of plans and specifications related to hydrogeological activities.

One to two years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in Geology. Master’s degree with emphasis on hydrogeology preferred. Knowledge of geologic and hydrogeologic processes and principles; groundwater chemistry and aquifer properties.

Salary Range: $35.32 - $44.15 per hour

range of $68,809.00 - $106,369.00 commensurate with qualifications
(salary range is subject to increase in January 2011).
