Explanation of Values in Earthquake List

CBD

Can't be determined.

Depth

Depth to the earthquake source in kilometers. Default, unconstrained, value is 5 km.

Lat and Lon

The coordinates of the epicenter of the earthquake in degrees latitude and degrees longitude. The epicenter is the location on the surface directly above the actual rupture point of the earthquake, which is below the surface.

Magnitude

The magnitude indicates the size of the earthquake. The NMTSO calculates magnitude based on the duration of the event.

NEIC

National Earthquake Information Center
Earthquakes noted as having an NEIC report will have a link to the report for 30 days. After that, the event is archived in an NEIC database that is not easily linked to, so the link will be changed to the NEIC earthquake catalog search page.

RMS

Measure of the final earthquake location fit.

SMB

Socorro Magma Body

STD

Measure of the solution variation.
