Middle and high school teacher opportunity to work in Antarctica at the Mount Erebus Volcano Observatory. Application deadline 15 June 2008. 
These kits are produced by the Earth Science Club at New Mexico Tech, and include an 18-page manual with detailed descriptions. The size of the kit is approximately 14 inches wide, so the rocks and minerals inside are large enough for your students to study. To see the inside of the kit, move your cursor over the picture.

A simple laboratory demonstration is used to illustrate the movement of hazardous chemicals from the soil surface to groundwater. A discussion of pollutant types, sources, and risks is developed around the demonstration.

How diamonds are formed, the scientific mystery about their occurrence, prospecting for diamonds, and details about a 1993 diamond discovery in Ghana.
You can bring your class to the New Mexico Tech campus so your students can get a taste of the college experience. One of the departments you can request to visit is the Earth & Environmental Science Department. While there, your students will attend demonstrations on geology, geochemistry, geophysics, and hydrology in laboratory classrooms. During these demonstrations, your students will be able to interact with undergraduate and graduate students on a one-to-one basis. (See pictures and video below.)
