Research Interests
Jeffrey B. Johnson, Assistant Research Professor of Geophysics
My research interests focus on understanding eruptive processes using integrated geophysical measurements and numerical modeling. This approach has direct applications to volcano monitoring and hazard mitigation because it employs innovative and potent technologies, including seismic, acoustic, thermal, and video monitors, to quantify and track volcanic activity.
My previous studies have involved the construction and implementation of new instrumentation for the analysis of ongoing volcanic degassing from the volcanoes Karymsky, Sangay, Erebus, Guagua Pichincha, Tungurahua, Kilauea, Villarrica, Santiaguito, Fuego, Volcan de Colima, Popocatepetl, Mount St. Helens, Reventador, and Erta Ale.
