SUMMARY
Dr. Shafike has 18 years of professional experience in major aspect of hydrology, with greatest emphasis
being on water resources planning and management, numerical modeling of complex hydrologic systems, surface
water and groundwater interaction, water rights investigation, mine dewatering, contaminant transport, and
environmental impact analysis. He has been involved in a variety of water resources evaluation and environmental
impacts studies in New Mexico, Nevada and Florida. He has developed and reviewed a wide range of flow and
transport models through unsaturated and saturated media. He is the author of the basin-wide model developed
for Estancia basin. He developed several rainfall runoff models and basin yield modeling analysis using surface
water assessment tools (SWAT) and reservoir operation modeling using the river simulation system RIVERWARE
developed by the Center of Advanced Decision Support for Water and Environmental Systems (CADSWES). He used
Geographic Information System (GIS) in conducting hydrologic investigations and developing numerical modeling.
He has professional experience of using UNIX and DOS commercial software and developing his own codes using FORTRAN.
Dr. Shafike’s project management experience includes consulting projects for industrial, mining and government
clients involving evaluation of clients objectives, development of work plan and technical approach, project
scheduling, budgeting, and report preparation and preparation for expert witness testimony. He has authored
numerous consulting reports and technical peer reviewed papers.
