Alumni Spam

Several alumni have reported getting the following spam, an interesting variation on the Nigerian request-for-aid spam. This is completely bogus--Al Greyton is not an EES alumni--so just have a good laugh over this one. I am reproducing this "as is" with all the errors and bizarre paragraph breaks.

To help decrease the farming of email addresses by spammers, I am removing the links and the "@" from your email addresses on the alumni page. --Susan Delap, Webmaster

My name is Al Greyton,an ex of New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology,Department of Earth and Environmental Science, located at 801 Leroy Place,Socorro,New Mexico 87801,now a navigator onboard a Liquefied Natural Gas vessel called Riva Ascona(RA)belonging to Bonny Gas Transport Limited,a wholly owned Bermudan subsidiary of LNG;which project will produce 5.78 million tonnes per annum(mtpa)of liquefied natural gas.

A long term sales contract has been signed in brunei for the total annual plant production, equivalent to 7.15 billion cubic metres(bcm)regasified LNG with ENEL of italy,Enegas of spain and Botas of turkey and two LNG vessels for CIF deliveries. All contract are on a delivered basis and total project cost are estimated at US$3.8 billion. Deliveries to Montoir LNG terminal, which has the largest facility in Europe;Marmara Ereglisi terminal and Huelva terminal will require two ships of 120-135,000 cubic metres capacity to service the LNG sales contract.Riva Ascona has so far been acquired for use by the project. It has eight tanks,215,000 cubic metres as total capacity, resulting that 80,000 tonnes is excess, without the knowledge of Rive Ascona owners,of which five(5)dollars per tonne was allocated to each crew onboard. Bear in mind that total project costs are estmated at US$3.8 billion, based on chartering two LNG vessels,of which US$0.5 billion has already been spent on project development costs and the acquisition of two

existing LNG vessels. The funding of the remaining investing of US$3.3 billion, shareholders have already provided US$2.2 biilion in their respective equity proportions,of which US$2.1 billion has been deposited into overseas escrow account. Approximately US$0.4 billion has been funded from the interest on the escrow account,as cost of the excess, payable to our respective beneficiaries,of which mine is US$26 million. In view to this excess payment, each beneficiary is required to travel to italy, open an account with the paying bank in milan,of which also,a judiciary agent has been assigned to facilitate proper documentations for the account opening. Another important aspect of this project is that it will use increasing quantities of associated and re-injected gas as it's

feedgas, rising from 32% to 75% come 2005,as this is when i look toward leaving for shore been when the contract expires. Therefore, other than being my beneficiary,i would also need you to invest 80% of the sum wisely into any lucrative yielding venture ,as i have resolved to give 20% for your assistance, sincerity and confidentiality regarding this transaction if you believe down deep in your heart that you can handle this and most imperative....count on your trustworthiness. Please be rest assured that this arrangement is absolutely risk free and cannot implicate you in any way. However I implore you to handle this issue with urgency and utmost confidence. Please acknowledge receipt of this mail if you attended New Mexico Instotute of Mining and Technology. Thank you in anticipation of your cooperation and hoping to hear from you soonest. Consequently, for this to take shape,i would need your full name, address, telephone and fax to enable change of ownership asaap.
Thanks for being there.
Yours sincerely,
Al Greyton.
