Transportation

Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ) is the closest major airport to Socorro. The airport is 72 miles (115 km) north of Socorro, and it takes about 1 hour and 15 minutes to travel between the airport and Socorro.

Transportation from the Albuquerque airport to Socorro will be provided for registered participants on the 15th and 16th of July, and from Socorro to the Albuquerque airport on the 21st and 22nd of July.

We are working on the van schedules now and will post them at the beginning of July. If you have registered, please email Patricia Mills (geos@nmt.edu) and give her the following information:

date and time of arrival/departure at/from Albuquerque airport
airline
flight number
where you are staying (on-campus or local motel)
registration transaction number (xx-xx-xx)

The van drivers will have the keys to rooms for registrants who reserved on-campus lodging, and they will drive you to your room and check you in.

Taxi Service

Taxi service from Albuquerque to Socorro is very expensive ($180 one way) and is not recommended. Socorro has a local taxi service that is less expensive:

Socorro Taxi prefers reservations by phone. If you email them and haven't received a response in three days, please forward your email to geos@nmt.edu and Patricia Mills will contact Socorro Taxi for you.
