Mid-Week Field Trip to
St. Cloud Mining Company
(included with conference registration)

On Wednesday, July 19, 2006, we will travel 150 km to the St. Cloud Mining Company (pictured above) near the old mining town of Winston, New Mexico, located in the foothills of the Black
Range. On the way we'll pass through beautiful high desert and mountain
country characterized by cattle and buffalo ranches (the latter owned by
Ted Turner of CNN fame).

The picture above, taken near the St. Cloud deposit, shows some exposed zeolite in the middle of the photo.

St. Cloud is the largest natural zeolite producer
in North America, providing a high-Ca/K clinoptilolite for a variety of
agricultural, industrial, and environmental uses. The picture above shows samples of many of these products. (Roll cursor over photo for names of products - some have clickable links.)
We will explore the
clinoptilolite deposit and tour the zeolite processing facilities (below)
packaging, and shipping facilities.

After leaving St. Cloud, we will travel about 10 km to a country-western barbecue dinner and a special rodeo organized just for Zeolite '06 attendees by T & T Paint Horses where cowboys will demonstrate calf roping and bulldogging.
This field trip is included in the
registration for all conference participants and their companions. (Note: Registered companions must be at least 12 years of age in order to participate in the field trips.)
