MS Word - FAQs

Q. My graphics are displaying as a big red X.
A. See MS Support Documents for Word 2000 or Word 2002.
Q. How do you rotate text?
A. Create a text box and type your text in it. Then bring up the Tables
and Borders toolbar. (On the menu bar under View, select Toolbars,
and check Tables and Borders.) Look for the button that has an A on it's
side with some arrows. This is the Change Text Direction button.
Click it and it will rotate your text in 90 degree increments.
Q. How do I suppress headers/footers on some pages
in the same document; how do I change headers/footers within a document?
A. The trick to doing this is to insert a Section Break between the
sections in your document where you want different formats for your headers
and/or footers. To insert a Section Break, do the following:
Now you have to "break the link" between the header/footer for the different sections. When you create a header/footer, it is linked to any previous sections' header/footer by default. You can see this when you bring up the header/footer menu bar (do this by selecting View->Header/Footer). One of the buttons says "Same as Previous." When you look at the button, it looks like it is depressed. Click it and it will "pop back up" and no longer be selected. This is called "breaking the link." Now you can go to the previous header/footer, edit it as you wish, and it won't change the header/footer in the next section.
