QUESTION: The resulting TIF is just as huge as the IMG file.
How can I make it smaller?
ANSWER: Use a bitmap imaging program like Corel PhotoPaint or Adobe
PhotoShop that allows you to resample the file at a different size
and/or resolution. If using Corel PhotoPaint, do the following:
-
Open the TIF file in Corel PhotoPaint
-
Select Image->Resample
-
Make sure "Maintain aspect ratio" is selected
-
Under Image Size, change either the Width or Height to the actual size
you will be using in the final application
-
Under Resolution, change to one of the following:
-
72-96 dpi for Internet or on-screen use only
-
150-300 dpi for printing or presentations
-
Watch New Image Size and adjust the above to get the desired image size
-
Click OK
-
Select File->Save AS to save your file and not overwrite
the original in case you need to go back and readjust the settings.
