Lemitar Swarm: August - September 2009

by Jana Stankova-Pursley, Seismic Lab Technician

In response to the increased seismicity near Lemitar, New Mexico, we installed a temporary seismic station in that area. (Thank you, Nelia and Bill.) This station will be recording seismic waves traveling through the crust, as well as the audio signal produced by the earthquakes.

The instrument was provided by the local IRIS PASSCAL Instrument Center.
Mike Fort, Associate Director of the IRIS PASSCAL Instrument Center, is checking the installed equipment. Action Packer containing the battery, infrasound sensor and microphone, and the data logger
Finished installation Yours truly, looking at one of the events from the swarm and fielding phone calls.
