The Magdalena Mountains are located 30 km west of Socorro and have an elevation range of 6100 to 10783 feet (South Baldy). They are a popular recreation area alloowing hiking, mountain biking, and sporadic cross country skiing. Water Canyon is a popular entry point to the mountains.
