Boston Developing Sensors for Mars Research

July 28, 2006 -- Penny Boston is planning to put 1,000 tennis-sized balls containing sensors on Mars by 2016. Albuquerque Tribune article.


Condie Chairs Conference on Tectonics

July 19, 2006 -- Kent Condie was one of the organizers of the recently held Penrose Conference, an annual event of the Geological Society of America. This year’s conference was held in Lander, Wyoming, from June 13–18, 2006. NMT article by George Zamora.


Phillips Coauthors Paper in Science

July 14, 2006 -- Fred Phillips was a coauthor of a recent article in Science. The title was "Near-Synchronous Interhemispheric Termination of the Last Glacial Maximum in Mid-Latitudes.” NMT article by George Zamora.


Wilson Elected AGU Section President

July 14, 2006 -- John Wilson was elected president of the Hydrology section of the American Geophysical Union. NMT article by George Zamora.


Partey Awarded NSF Travel Grant

June 28, 2006 -- Frederick Partey, PhD Candidate in Geochemistry, was granted an NSF travel award to attend the Goldschmidt 2006 Geochemistry meeting in Melbourne, Australia, from 26 August to 1 September. There were over 300 applicants and 30 awards given. The title of his talk is:
"Mechanism of arsenic sorption onto laterite iron concretions from Prestea, Ghana." Partey's advisor is Dave Norman.
